MAP: Minneapolis General Strike Movement Spreads to 300 Cities on Friday

Payday Report has been tracking the growing strike movement across the country against ICE's occupation of Minneapolis. So far, our map shows that there are Minneapolis General Strike solidarity actions in at least 300 cities across the United States and Ireland.

Now, it appears that the Minneapolis General Strike wave is spreading across the country, with actions in at least 3000 cities, and is expected to grow. Labor and immigrant rights organizers are planning for a massive nationwide General Strike on May Day.

The strike in Minnesota is already inspiring actions by labor, community, and immigrant rights groups around the country. Payday Report has already tracked solidarity actions with the Minneapolis General Strike in at least 300 cities around the country.

During the pandemic, The Washington Post credited Payday Report with being the first news organization to systematically track the strike wave. Now, Payday Report believes that we are seeing the beginnings of another massive strike wave. 

“Hopefully, what is happening in Minnesota becomes a model of how we can fight back against these raids,” says Knutson.
