This week is my 39th birthday and I am heading up to Cooperstown, New York to speak at the Baseball Hall of Fame annual conference on “American Culture & Baseball.”
At the Hall of Fame, I will be presenting a fascinating paper on the civil rights struggles in baseball during World War Two titled “The 1945 GI World Series in Hitler’s Nuremberg Stadium: Baseball’s ‘Double Victory’ Against Segregation at Home and Abroad” (Watch your inbox for the story to drop on Memorial Day).
The past few months fighting fascists and the Trump Administration have been an intense time for Payday and I was hoping to take my birthday week off and spend a few days hiking around Cooperstown and just relaxing at home in Pittsburgh.
But as a self-employed labor reporter, who constantly needs to either crowdfund or freelance, I simply can’t afford it.
However, a week off would prolly do wonders for helping me to relax and allow me to celebrate my birthday.
Donate to help a labor reporter enjoy his birthday, take some time off, and pay the rent.
Thanks again for all the support.
