Folks,

This weekend, I aim to drive four hours away to very rural central Pennsylvania to protest a new Moshannon Valley ICE detention center in Phillipsburg, PA. The prison is privately owned by GEO Group (GEO), which uses profit from private ICE prision to push politically for more prisons

We need your help to cover how even rural communities that are starved for jobs, like Phillipsburg, are fighting back against ICE detention centers.

Currently, ICE doesn’t have enough beds to detain the number of immigrants that Trump is demanding. Now, as the federal government is undergoing a $45 billion expansion of ICE, it hopes to build even more detention centers.

However, local communities, through zoning processes, still can stop the spread of ICE detention centers and that is why covering these types of actions against ICE in rural communities is so important.

To do this, I will need to raise $250 to cover travel, food, and editing costs. (This doesn’t include my labor)

Thousands of activists read Payday Report, and it helps inspire activism. Many labor activists have been wondering how they can get involved in fighting ICE deportations.

Payday has already covered how labor activists have set up local ICE bail funds to help keep immigrants out of detention and to successfully fight deportations.

Earlier this month, we traveled up to Ambridge, PA to cover how a bombed out mill town was fighting back against local police collaborating with ICE.

Now, we will travel out to Trump country in a rural part of the state to cover how even rural communities desperate for jobs are fighting against ICE detentions.

Thousands of activists read Payday Report, and this coverage helps inspire activists to set up similar organizing efforts and fight back in their local communities. This is the type of labor reporting that the mainstream press ignores.
